Abstract
A 16-month-old infant had malignant hemangioendothelioma involving the vertebral bodies T-8 to L-1 with extension to the extradural space, producing spinal cord compression. Nine additional cases from the literature of malignant hemangioendothelioma of bone in children are reviewed. Of the ten cases reported, six have pursued a downhill course. Sites of metastases included lungs, lymph nodes, brain, and other bones. Three patients, however, have had long term survival. These cases were all treated by radical surgery, as well as radiation in one case. Keywords
