Abstract
Novel designs for integrated-optic M/spl times/N/spl times/M crossconnect switches are presented and analyzed. Arrays of electroabsorptive microring resonators on a semiconductor chip would provide dense wavelength-division-multiplexed switching in a compact, planar, low-voltage, high-speed geometry. Analysis indicates that the crossconnect is scaleable to 8/spl times/8/spl times/8 with more than 48-dB signal-to-crosstalk ratio. Keywords
