Abstract
The propagation of classical and quantized vector fields under the influence of external fields constant over wide regions of space-time is investigated. Noncausal propagation is established for suitable external fields. The canonically quantized vector field generates a perturbation expansion for the propagation function which is in agreement with the behavior of the solutions for the classical vector field. Keywords
