Abstract
For 67 patients, 66 with mild hypertension and one with Bartter's Syndrome, sensitivity to infused angiotensin II (expressed as critical dose) was significantly negatively correlated with renin activity in peripheral plasma (r = 0.698). Thirty-one patients with "benign" (essential) hypertension did not differ significantly from 20 normal subjects, with respect to circulating renin or angiotensin sensitivity; while 10 patients with accelerated hypertension, 10 with renovascular hypertension, and 14 with chronic renal disease and hypertension were less sensitive to angiotensin and had higher renin activities, with the deviations from normal in both parameters being statistically significant (P <0.01).This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
