Oxidation of 3-Hydroxy-Anthranilic Acid by Human Serum.

Abstract
The oxidation of 3-hydroxy-anthranilic acid by human serum has been investigated by fluorimetric techniques. The influence of some activators and inhibitors has been studied. By examination of approximately 100 samples of sera from various origins, it was found that the partial inhibition by CN is subject to a considerable variation. In sera from schizophrenic subjects the cyanide inhibition in % of total oxidation ranges from 0 to 6%; in some cases there is a slight activation. In normal controls the corresponding range is from 6 to 20%. The overlapping between the groups is about 15%.
