Abstract
Contains brief diagnostic notes, informative synonymy, and a list of authenticated specimens for a number of binomials which have so far been listed in American literature as "Euphorbia Esula," or "Euphorbia virgata." Usually or always these refer to E. intercedens Podtera. Two new records for our adventitious flora are established (Euphorbia virgata orientalis Boiss.; E. agraria M.-a-B.). A consideration of the nomenclatural status of E. virgata Wald & Kit., 1805, against E. virgata Desf., 1804, is added, showing that Art. 61 in the current Rules of Botanical Nomenclature is ambiguous.
