Recyclability of glass reinforced flame retardant impact polystyrene

Abstract
Glass reinforced flame retardant impact polystyrene has successfully been used in many demanding electronics/electrical enclosure applications. However, disposing of used equipment parts is no longer a popular or viable option because of environmental consciousness. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) must find acceptable ways of recovering used parts or reusing or recycling them. Recycling glass-reinforced material is especially challenging because a recycling process, which usually involves injection molding and recycling, would introduce substantial glass fiber breakage, resulting in significant physical property loss of material.
