Abstract
The take-off, flight and alighting behavior of D. platanoides, maintaining alate generations on sycamore throughout the season, are described. Though departures from the breeding host were not much observed, virginoparae and sexuparae alatae proved able to fly until shortly before they died, indicating that early flight-muscle autolysis does not occur in this sp. This great extension of flight activity throughout life was connected with a low daily rate of reproduction.
