Abstract
A brief summary is given of the various types of core yarn and their method of manufacture, which often involves the use of specially designed machinery. An investigation is described in which true core yarns are prepared on a conventional doubler by making use of the principle of differential twist contraction. The yarns are composed of a continuous-filament Terylene or nylon core surrounded by cotton covering yarns. The effects of twist construaion and processing conditions on yarn appearance and tensile properties are examined. Keywords
