Abstract
Mössbauer techniques were applied on the two types of tapes, longitudinally and perpendicularly oriented tapes having the coercivity of 300–1500 Oe to evaluate the orientation of particles in tapes. The demagnetizing factor, N, in the perpendicular direction in the tapes was determined by examining the deviation of squareness in the hysteresis curve from the Mössbauer results. In the longitudinally oriented tapes, the squareness agreed with the Mössbauer results by correcting the effect of the demagnetizing field using N=1. In the perpendicularly oriented tapes, the value of N depended on the degree of orientation of particles, and decreased with increasing the degree of orientation of particles in the perpendicular direction. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
