Abstract
This paper addresses the use of a normal language developmental model for clinical intervention with children using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems. Possible applications of the model are described. The specific dilemmas and unique concerns faced in adapting a developmental model for children with AAC systems are considered. Two areas of normal language development, individual style and displaced talk, are explored and illustrations of the use of this information for generating intervention programs are offered. Keywords
