Poliomyelitis

Abstract
WELL localized epidemics of poliomyelitis in small communities with a high standard of living tend to be characterized, in recent years, by the occurrence of disease among adults as well as children. This paper reports an investigation of such an epidemic making use of the tissue-culture technics now available for laboratory work with the virus of poliomyelitis.During the month of June, 1954, 7 cases of poliomyelitis were reported from New Canaan, a well-to-do small community in southern Connecticut.
