Spontaneous resolution of occlusive lesions of the carotid artery

Abstract
The literature concerning spontaneous resolution of occlusive lesions involving the carotid artery is reviewed. Four additional cases in patients illustrating 3 pathological vascular processes that may resolve spontaneously, i.e., arterial dissection, atheromatous lesions at the carotid bifurcation and an arteriopathy involving the intracranial vessels, are discussed.
