Anomalies in the Absorption Spectrum of Visual Purple

Abstract
The disputed appearance of an intermediate rise in the blue part of the spectrum during the bleaching of visual purple, which is attributed to the intermediate formation of visual yellow, is shown to be associated with seasonal variations in the frog. Visual purple from summer frogs shows little or no intermediate rise in absorption in the blue; winter frogs showed this phenomenon very clearly.
