Abstract
OUT of a group of 18 arthritic patients treated with prednisone (Meticorten) we have encountered 3 with peptic ulcers; 1 of these, in whom a perforation developed, is the subject of this report. Peptic ulcer as a complication of prednisone therapy has previously been reported,1 as has 1 case of massive hematemesis from peptic ulcer in a patient with the nephrotic syndrome treated with prednisone.1 , 2 Bollet et al.1 have also noted the healing of peptic ulcers in 2 patients on a rigid ulcer regimen without reduction in prednisone dosage. There has not been, to our knowledge, a previously published report . . .Keywords
