Abstract
The problems associated with current advanced mathematics courses are discussed which lead to a rationale for the development of a new coursework syllabus. A description of the course is given with an outline of the framework and the assessment arrangements. Sample assessment tasks are provided with the objectives and associated criteria statements that are used for the assessment of the coursework.Keywords
