Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cat following unilateral labyrinthectomy to see if changes in the phase lag occurred during sinusoidal angular rotation. The phase lag is felt to occur because the action of the cupla and endolymph are heavily damped causing the reversal of a nystagmus direction to lag behind the actual change of the direction of the rotational force. Fourteen cats were used as normal control and four unilateral labyrinthectomized cats were evaluated. The results indicate that unilateral labyrinthectomy does have an effect on the phase lag when sinusoidal angular rotation is used. Keywords
