Abstract
We discuss a detection scheme that reveals the existence of vortex states in a cylindrically symmetric condensate trap. It relies on the measurement of the second-order correlation function of the Schrödinger field and yields directly the topological charge of the vortex state, as well as direct evidence of the existence of persistent currents. Keywords
