Abstract
An adult female Sooty Mangabey monkey (Cercocebus atys) developed a severe coccidioidal infection while maintained out of doors on the Davis campus of the University of California. It can be inferred therefore that Coccidioides immitis exists on this campus inasmuch as this monkey had originated in Sierra Leone and was transported via London to San Francisco thence to Davis where its infection was recognized over 2 years later. The infection was characterized by wide-spread lytic lesions of the bones. This species may be a suitable model for the study of coccidioidal osteomyelitis. Keywords
