Abstract
The efficacy of bee-collected pollen in affecting natural cross pollination in the cultivated peanut, Arachis hypogaea, is demonstrated. Peanut pollen attached to abdominal hairs of 2 species of solitary bees, Lasioglossum (Chloralictus) versatum (Halictidae) and Megachile (Litomegachile) mendica (Megachilidae), recovered and placed on stigmas of properly emasculated peanut flowers resulted in a 66% successful fertilization. An additional list of 16 potential pollinators (Apoidea) is included. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
