Abstract
High efficiency separations by liquid-solid (adsorption) chromatography in columns are currently under study in several laboratories, and the application of this technique to a wide variety of practical problems can be anticipated shortly. The present paper provides a selective review of previous work in this area, along with a semi-empirical interpretation which has been suggested by some new experimental data. This model is then used to evaluate the relative separation efficiency of adsorption chromatography as it has been practiced in the past, as it can be practiced at present, and as it is likely to be practiced in the future. Keywords
