Abstract
Electron spin resonance spectra of a series of low-spin d5 complexes of the type [RuL4X2]+[L4=(ethylenediamine)2, 1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradecane, or 1,9-diamino-3,7-diazanonane; X = Cl, Br, I, or NCS] in water, dimethyl sulphoxide, dimethylformamide. and hexamethylphosphoramide have been recorded. From analysis of the three well resolved g features a thorough understanding of the bonding in the complexes and of their products of solvolysis is obtained. Keywords
