Abstract
The two time-division multiplexing methods, namely, bit multiplexing and block multiplexing, are reviewed. This is followed by a description of code-division multiple access (CDMA). Several photonic switching systems that could be based on time-division multiple access (TDMA) are discussed. Multidimensional switching systems that combine both TDMA and space switching are briefly considered. Keywords
