Abstract
Cr(VI) adsorption on amorphous iron oxide was performed in a batch type reactor under constant temperature (25°C) and nitrogen atmosphere. The adsorption percentage of Cr(VI) on iron oxide increases with decreasing pH and total concentration of Cr(VI). But the Cr(VI) adsorption density and surface charges on iron oxide increase as pH is lowered and Cr(VI) concentration increases. From the correlation among Cr(VI) adsorption density, surface charges and changes in system pH, it was suggested that ligand exchange can be used to describe the reaction between soluble Cr(VI) and iron oxide surface. Keywords
