Determination of Molybdenum by Means of an Ion-Selective Electrode Based on Bis-Tetraethylammonium Pentathiocyanato-Oxomolybdate(V)

Abstract
Liquid state membrane electrodes based on bis -tetraethylammonium pentathiocyanatooxomolybdate(V) dissolved in nitrobenzene: o-dichlorobenzene (2:3) have been prepared and assessed. Nernstian response (29.5 mV/pMo at 25°C) was obtained in the range 5×10−8 M to 10 M molybdenum. Several other metal ions which form thiocyanate complexes, namely those of iron, vanadium, tungsten, niobium and rhenium, interfere.
