Subharmonic generator based on a doubly resonant parametric oscillator with intracavity second-harmonic generation

Abstract
The oscillation properties of a doubly resonant optical parametric oscillator with intracavity second-harmonic generation are analyzed. Because of a seeding effect, the second-harmonic-generation element induces a significant power transfer between the idler and the signal waves as the frequency division is tuned across 2ωi= ωs. This power transfer results in a narrow dip or peak in the relationships of the signal and the idler output powers versus the frequency. By employing the technique of scanning-type amplitude stabilization, one can achieve accurate frequency division.
