Abstract
Extraordinary mode radiation near the electron plasma frequency can occur in tokamaks via Cerenkov resonance with runaway electrons. A numerical study is presented which shows the emission to be of sufficiently broad bandwidth and high intensity to account for the observations in TFR and Alcator. Keywords
