Generation of surface acoustic waves using the electrostrictive effect

Abstract

Surface acoustic waves have been generated and detected on a biased electrostrictive substrate. A delay line with an insertion loss of 26 dB at 77 K has been constructed on strontium titanate. The temperature and electric-field dependence of the insertion loss are given.
