Abstract
IN 1969 Rogers et al. described a case of unexplained anemia in association with diabetes mellitus and sensorineural deafness.1 The anemia responded only to pharmacologic closes of thiamine. Another such case of "thiamine-responsive anemia" was reported by Viana and Carvalho in 1978,2 and two additional cases were presented by Haworth et al. in 1982.3 We describe a three-month-old girl who presented with severe anemia, diabetes, and deafness, all of which improved with high-dose thiamine treatment. To our knowledge, our patient is the youngest patient recognized as having this syndrome. In addition to anemia, diabetes, and deafness, she had generalized pulliness, . . .Keywords
