Petroleum: Effects on Mallard Egg Hatchability

Abstract
The effects of 2 crude oils (South Louisiana [USA] and Kuwait crudes) and a refined oil (No. 2 fuel oil) were studied on the survival of mallard [Anas platyrhynchos] embryos hatched from eggs that were exposed to oil on the 8th day of incubation. Ninety-six hour survival and hatchability after 30 days incubation were significantly reduced in all oil treatment groups. [Environmental pollution is discussed.].
