Derivation of Adler's Divergence Condition from the Field Equations

Abstract
It is shown that the electromagnetic corrections to the divergence of the axial-vector current as derived by Adler within the framework of perturbation theory can be inferred directly from the field equations. An essential ingredient in this approach consists of redefining the current operator in terms of a limiting procedure which is explicitly gauge-invariant.Keywords
