Abstract
Operation of a cw CO electric‐discharge supersonic laser with a pulser‐sustainer discharge is described. High‐power operation as well as independent control over electron energy and density are demonstrated. Maximum input power achieved to date is 100 kW. The maximum output power is 6 kW or 10% of the sustainer positive column power. Much improved performance appears possible. Keywords
