Abstract
Taylor examines the forms of reasoning that people use when they argue that one way of life is better for human beings than another. Although such arguments always take place in a particular historical context and do not have the deductive structure that is associated with good scientific argument, they can nonetheless be perfectly reasonable, according to Taylor, and can succeed in showing that some ways of doing things are indeed better than others. Keywords
