Abstract
Extracts of lymphocytes of human origin reacted specifically with rabbit antisera to highly purified [gamma]-globulin fractionated from pooled normal human plasmas. 20 mesenteric lymph nodes from a patient were washed in saline and sliced 2-5 mm thick. The slices were suspended in saline and filtered. The filtrate was centrifugalized and the cells washed in saline. The supernate then failed to react with antiserum to [gamma]-globulin. The cells were resuspended and frozen and thawed 3 times; smears showed all cells were lysed. The supernate after centrifugation reacted with antiserum but not with normal rabbit serum. When diluted until it failed to precipitate with antiserum, the extract; when mixed with serum, inhibited the ability of antiserum to precipitate purified human [gamma]-globulin or to form a precipi- tate when overlaid with normal human serum.
