Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between interest changes and the structure of vocational interests. Disagreements between investigators regarding the ordering of the interest fields in their circular arrangement were examined, and the circular structure for interests was discussed in comparison to the Hierarchical Model for vocational interest proposed by Gati (1979). Re-analyses of Knapp, Knapp, and Buttafuoco's (1978) data is regard to changes in interests suggest that the Hierarchical Model fits the pattern of interest changes considerably better than the Circular Model. The article discusses the implications of these findings for vocational guidance and for the interpretation of interest profiles. Keywords
