CARDIAC INJURY DUE TO NONPENETRATING CHEST TRAUMA

Abstract
Forty-four patients with non-penetrating chest trauma were observed for evidence of associated cardiac damage. Seventeen of these had transient ecg changes appearing within 48 hours and lasting from 4 to 30 days. Only one had clinical manifestations. The serum transaminase levels were of no help in determining the amount of cardiac damage. A severe degree of chest trauma is not necessary to produce cardiac damage.
