Influence de l'âge, du poids et de la vitesse de croissance sur la teneur en androsténone des graisses de jeunes porcs mâles entiers

Abstract
Young Large White boars (33), weighing 27 kg, were distributed into 3 groups. Boars in treatment 1 were fed according to a liberal scheme (from 1.5 kg feed/day at 30 kg live weight up to 3.2 kg/day above 95 kg). Boars in treatment 2 and 3 were more restricted (25% restriction). Fat androsterone content was measured by radioimmunoassay for each boar at 80, 95 and 105 kg live weigth in treatment 1 and 2, and at the same age in treatment 3 as for treatment 1. No significant difference was observed between treatment for fat androsterone level. Neither age nor live weight alone, had a significant influence on androsterone production and storage. Fat androsterone was not significantly related to growth performances, but was correlated (rs = -0.59; P < 0.05) with loin/backfat ratio, a good indicator of muscle/fat ratio in carcasses.
