Abstract
Ostrea virginica in 1 spawning period laid 15-114.8 million eggs; the $ can be induced to spawn 5-6 times during the season, and the author considers it probable that the maximum number of eggs in a single adult ? may be close to \ billion. O. gigas laid 11.4-55.8 million eggs in 1 spawning period; 1 oyster induced to spawn 3 times in 18 days laid 91.9 million eggs.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
