Abstract
By constructing explicit projection operators for the configurations of quark-antiquark () and quark-quark () systems, we demonstrate that confinement occurs in the color-singlet state, while the ()-plet of () and both the -plet and the -plet of have infinite energy and are hence decoupled from the spectrum.
