Thermodynamic studies of fluoroalcohols. Part 3.—The thermodynamics of transfer of five fluoroalcohols from the gas-phase to aqueous solution

Abstract
The free energies, enthalpies, entropies, and heat capacities of transfer of five fluoroalcohols from the gas-phase to aqueous solution at infinite dilution and at four temperatures have been determined. The results are primarily discussed in terms of the solute–solvent interactions between fluorinated alkyl-groups and water molecules in aqueous solution. Fluorocarbon groups promote in adjacent water molecules a structure which may possibly be ice-like in character.
