Pharmacological Observations on a Chymotryptic Inhibitor from Potatoes.

Abstract
An inhibitor of chymotrypsin isolated from potatoes was found to stop the proteolytic activity of the enzyme on fibrin to which the enzyme had already been firmly attached. The inhibitor was nontoxic to mice when injected intravenously or intraperitoneally in amounts as high as 40 mg per kg. It was also nonirritating when applied repeatedly to the conjunctival sac of rabbits' eyes. However, the inhibitor does not change the antigenicity of chymotrypsin.
