Abstract
It is known that 2,4-D decreases the amt. of protein N in the leaves and increases the level of this fraction in the stems and roots of treated plants. To test the hypothesis that this growth regulator affects proteolytic enzymes differently in the leaves than in the steins and roots, soybean plants were treated with 2,4-D and all organs were analyzed for proteinase and polypeptidase activity. The results indicated that after 2,4-D treatment the activity of these 2 enzymes decreased in the leaves and increased considerably in the roots and stems. Keywords
