Abstract
The amount of IgG, IgA, and IgM antibodies to LPS from B. gingivalis was measured by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay in serum samples from subjects with clinically healthy gingiva and patients with chronic periodontitis. Patients with periodontitis had a significantly higher level of specific IgG and IgA antibodies than patients with healthy gingiva (p<0.01). No such difference was found in specific IgM level. In patients with periodontitis, the specific IgG level was negatively correlated with the number of pockets deeper than 4 mm (p<0.05).
