Abstract
Eigen frequencies of lattice vibration in a crystal containing a straigth dislocation are calculated. It is found that an eigen frequency of dislocation vibration (wave number: κ) lies in each of the intervals of the normal mode frequencies of k 2 =κ in the perfect lattice. It is also found that there is one localized mode of dislocation vibration for every value of κ below the phonon band. Phonon scattering by the fluttering mechanism is treated by using the above results and the condition of resonance scattering is given. Finally the effect of the Peierls potential and the problem of quantization of dislocation vibration are discussed. Keywords
