Abstract
The following article describes the background and cur rent state of the field of the psychology of women and its relation ship to traditional areas of psychology. Increases in the number of investigators who identify themselves with this area, the numbers of papers presented at professional meetings, the number of journal articles, new journals, books published and dissertations dealing with the psychology of women are reviewed as indicators of growth and future prospects for the field.Keywords
