Abstract
In this study, 45 patients with pernicious anemia were treated with crystalline vitamin B12 given orally without intrinsic factor. When 3000-10,000 [mu]g of vitamin B12 were given orally in a single dose to patients in relapse, clinical and hematological responses resembled those seen with parenteral therapy. Patients were maintained in complete remission by the administration of a single tablet containing 1000 [mu]g once per week. Eleven patients were satisfactorily maintained on this regimen for more than 3 years. Keywords
