Abstract
Enhancement factor calculations based on the electromagnetic model of surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) are presented for a series of metals. The specific dependence of SERS on the excitation and vibrational frequencies, and the aspectratio of spheroidal particles, are discussed. It is suggested that the results are relevant for experiments carried out on metal‐island surfaces. Keywords
