Abstract
This paper describes a digital simulation technique to compute the random process parameters of the fault-induced noise signals. The autocorrelation functions, variance and spectra of the noise signals are obtained for an example of a typical power system. Empirical formulas are obtained which may be applied in computer relaying based on estimation theory, statistical approaches, or in the design of digital filters for computer relaying. Keywords
