Abstract
A simple new method based on holographic scattering is presented which allows the determination of the Li/Nb ratio of LiNbO3 crystals. We illuminate the samples with laser light, measure the cone angle of the anisotropically scattered light and calculate from this angle the birefringence. First experimental results for the Li/Nb ratio of various LiNbO3 crystals demonstrate the feasibilities of this method. Keywords
