Abstract
Thirty patients with disseminated melanoma were treated with DTIC [5-(3,3-dimethyl-1-triazeno)imidazole-4-carboxamide] (250 mg/m2 for 5 days every 3 wk), methyl-CCNU [1-(2-chloroethyl)-3-(4-methylcyclohexyl)-1-nitrosourea] (175 mg/m2 orally every 6 wk) and vincristine (1.4 mg/m2 weekly .times. 6 and then every 3 wk). Seven patients died within 3 wk of the start of chemotherapy. There was a 30% response rate (7 partial and 2 complete remissions) for all patients and a 39% response for evaluable patients. The median survival was 45 and 18 wk, respectively, for responders vs. non-responders and 22 wk for all evaluable patients.
